GlE. Global Europeanness: towards a differentiated approach to global history 1450-1900

 

The National Research Project (PRIN 2017) Global Europeanness (GlE) intends to investigate from a historical perspective the nexus between the increasing interconnections between the different parts of the world in the early modern and modern period and the emergence of cultural forms elaborated by the European cultures to conceptualize the constant changes that affected the international relationships from around 1450 to around 1900 to the benefit of the European powers. To do so, it stresses the need to differentiate the methodological approach to global historical phenomena and focus on specific aspects of

1. the forms of globalization as they unfolded as a consequence of the impact of the European powers outside Europe;

2. of the cultural processes that coped with an increasing globalization.
